The Education Review Office (ERO) analyzes and reviews, early childhood centres, they focus on the quality of education. The report includes, the quality of the:

programme provided for children
learning environment
communication between children and teachers

Health and Safety

Brown Owl Kindergarten is smoke free.

Immunisation

An Immunisation certificate is required, to enrol with Brown Owl Kindergarten. A certificate will be available at your family doctor.

Illness

We comply with guidelines, from the Ministry of Health. If your child has suffered:

vomiting
diarrhoea
sticky eyes
fever

Ensure, they are clear of these symptoms, at least two days, before they return, to ensure the health and safety, of your child, and other children.

If your child is unwell at kindergarten, or seriously hurt itself, we will contact you immediately.

Accidents

If any accidents occur at kindergarten will inform, parents and/or guardians. It is important that all emergency contacts details are up to date, so we can contact the appropriate person.

All teachers trained in first aid to provide, basic first aid.

A copy of an accident report for all incidents; is available to parents and/or guardians, at kindergarten.

Serious accidents, will contact medical assistance, before parents and/or guardians, if required.

Medicines and Allergies

To ensure best practices in Health and Safety, for your child, please inform us, of any particular:

allergies
medical conditions or any changes in their health
any medication at kindergarten, including an asthma inhaler

If your child requires any medication at kindergarten, written verification, from your family doctor is required.

Please hand all medication to a teacher; please do not leave in school bags.

Emergencies

Displayed on our wall are our emergency procedures. We explain these to you during your first session
we have frequent fire and earthquake drills, with the children.

We also have emergency supplies, and equipment, at the kindergarten in the event of a civil emergency. If we have to evacuate the kindergarten, we will go to (insert kindergarten civil defense emergency place)

We will leave a note to let you know where we have gone

Vision and hearing checks

We will ask you to sign a consent form, upon your childs enrolment.

While your child is at kindergarten they will normally receive one assessment, unless a follow-up is required.
